Return to: Degrees and Certificates - by Degree Type The Dental Hygiene Program at Palo Alto College is designed with Student Success at the forefront. The curriculum is offered as an Associate of Applied Science Degree to those who have an interest in becoming a Registered Dental Hygienist. A dental hygiene student will learn the necessary aspects of clinical care for all age ranges of dental patients that will include current technology and evidence-based dentistry. The program will ensure the highest level of instruction for quality in patient care needs. The dental hygiene student will be educated to provide the educational needs for a community, to provide hands-on clinical learning, both clinically and radiographically, and to learn in an enriched clinical location. All students must be 18 years or older and be able to pass a background check. The comprehensive curriculum will provide the student with the necessary components to provide care to various populations that include, but are not limited to, private dental offices, dental clinics, and public health clinics. At the completion of the dental hygiene curriculum, the student will be eligible to petition the State of Texas for licensing.
