Digital Art, A.A.

Return to Programs and Courses - Fine & Performing Arts/Speech Communication Return to: Programs and Courses - Fine & Performing Arts/Speech Communication

The Digital Art program provides quality instruction by offering training in industry standard digital media for students majoring in the Arts, leading to the Associate of Arts with a concentration in Digital Art. It can also lead toward transfer to a four-year degree, BFA or other area of new media and technology arts. The associate degree requires completion of the outlined core curriculum but also offers local certificates, in Digital Art and Digital Photography, which do not require general education courses.

The digital art studio courses require skills development that includes outside work done in the department’s MacLab, which will vary with each student, to achieve course competencies. The program includes a gateway course, ARTS 1311 Design I, which introduces the student to media and studio practices and serves as a pre-requisite for all other courses.  ARTS 2389 Academic Cooperative serves as the degree capstone and should be taken in the student’s final semester.

Students who intend to major in Digital Art should meet with their advisor in Fine and Performing Arts to determine their degree plan for Digital Art and to explore their options to apply their skills or transfer to a four-year institution.
