Return to: Degrees and Certificates - by Degree Type Instrumentation and Process Technology awards focus on installation, maintenance, and calibration of devices used in the process and manufacturing industries. These devices control the pressure, temperature, level, and flow of processes used in the petrochemical, refinery, and manufacturing industries.
Students in the A.A.S. Program learn the basics of: DC/AC electricity, industrial equipment maintenance, the physics of instrumentation, process technology equipment and systems, unit operations, pneumatics and hydraulics, and electromechanical systems. Students are familiarized with control systems, such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and DCS (Distributed Control Systems), and are introduced to robotic automation for process industries. The A.A.S. provides students with comprehensive knowledge and skills in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting in the petrochemical, refinery, and manufacturing industries.
