MUSB 1391 - Special Topics in Music Business - Study of Hip Hop Culture
This course will provide an in-depth study of hip-hop music and its culture in regard to: the history of hip hop, hip-hop production styles, hip-hop recording styles, marketing of hip-hop artists, hip hop record labels, and the overall influence of hip-hop upon the music business.
What is hip-hop? Hip-hop is a music-based culture that consists of: rap music, deejaying, breakdancing, and graffiti art. It emerged in the early 1970's in The Bronx, New York and has become a multi billion dollar industry that has heavily influenced modern music, fashion, art, and language.
