GEOL 1404 - Historical Geology
Prerequisites: GEOL 1301 or GEOL 1401 or GEOL 1403 Integrated Reading & Writing Basic Skills Prerequisite: INRW 0420
Math Basic Skills Prerequisite: MATH 0410
A comprehensive survey of the history of life and major events in the physical development of Earth as interpreted from rocks and fossils. This course focuses on the origin and evolution of the earth through geologic time, emphasizing organic evolution and plate tectonics. Laboratory activities support lecture topics and include the study of rocks, fossils, geographic maps, geologic maps, and other aspects of earth history. Occasional field trips may be arranged.
This course fulfills the Life and Physical Sciences foundational component area of the core and addresses the following required objectives: Critical Thinking, Communication, Empirical Quantitative Skills, and Teamwork.
