Political Science: Associate of Arts concentration in Political Science

Return to: Degree Plans & Certificates - Academic/Technical The Associate of Arts concentration in Political Science provides the student with an understanding of the philosophical foundation of governing institutions, the framework of governing institutions at all levels of government, the functions of governing systems, the importance of the political process and the impact these governing institutions have on the daily lives of their citizens. The program also emphasizes interdependency of government with all other social sciences.

Political Science Majors at all Alamo Colleges should select their 18 hours in close consultation with their respective Political Science Advisors at both their Alamo College and the Four Year Instittuion at which they plan to matriculate
GOVT 2378: Introduction to International Relations is only offered at San Antonio College but all Alamo Colleges have agreed to accept it for “substitution credit” towards the 18 hrs. of Political Science. GOVT 2378 is accepted toward Political Science Degree at UTSA, Texas State, and Texas A&M-San Antonio
