Cosmetology Operator A.A.S.

This AAS degree is a two-year program designed for students who want to pursue a career in Cosmetology.  The Cosmetology Program prepares students with the theory and basic skills needed to successfully pass the state licensing examination.

Students can use their degree to transfer to a four-year university and earn a Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences.  The AAS program provides an excellent opportunity for students who want to enter the workforce as a cosmetologist and further their education.

Additional Program Information


Students interested in being admitted to the cohort-based Cosmetology Operator AAS must complete the following four pre-requisite courses with a “C” or better:

ENGL 1301 - Composition I, one course from the Additional Communication Core, one course from the Mathematics Core, and one course from the Social and Behavioral Sciences Core.

Upon completion an application form may be obtained from their advisor.  Once the form is completed the student will be invited for an interview that will clarify program requirements.  Based upon the outcome of the interview, the student will be admitted to the program and the student will complete Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) forms Student Permit Application and a Notice of Ineligibility for License Form before enrolling in the program.
